Douglas William Mowbray, Publisher, Editor
Douglas William Mowbray is a poet and editor from Baltimore, Maryland. His poems have appeared in a number of small publications, including The Baltimore Review, Erbacce, WordWrights!, Northern New England Review, Quirk, Twittering Machine, Haiku Headlines, City Paper (Baltimore),
Listening to the Birth of Crystals (anthology, U.K.), Our Truth: A Forthright Poetry Compilation, and Octopus Dreams (anthology published by PoetryinBaltimore.com).
The birth of twentythreebooks began in Doug's capacity as Assistant Editor at BrickHouse Books, Maryland's oldest continuously operating small press, founded and operated by Clarinda Harriss, where he had the occasion to review Omar Shapli's manuscript, The General Is Asked His Opinion and other sad songs 2002-2005, and recommended it for publication immediately. BrickHouse Books' calendar was set for the year, so Doug posited "What if I
publish it myself?" Ms. Harriss gave her blessing, Doug sent a letter to Omar, and thus was launched the venture you are witness to today.
Raymond J. Cummings, Assistant Editor Raymond Cummings writes, criticizes, edits, proofreads, and generally would be completely and utterly lost in a world without words. He prefers his consumed/external poetry cryptic, oblique, broken; his fiction stuffed with allusion and foreshadowing; his magazine articles endless. He voted for John Kerry. He'd agitate and activate, if only there were more time and resources at hand. He finds that the third-person wears out its welcome way, way too quickly. He lives in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania with his wife and child.
